The initial vision of Theodor Herzl (Der Judenstaad — 1896), the idea was one of a refuge state for the Jew from all around the world. i.e. a state where the indigenous populations would welcome them).
Herzl came to this conclusion/proposal because of the discriminations & violences against Jews in Europe/Russia, during very long periodes.
The 1917 Balfour Declaration clearly stated that “(…) it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine (…)”
Then came the horrible death of 6 million Jews, during WW2 = an attempt to annihilation of a whole nation.
The 1947 UN decision was the creation of a “Jewish State”, which is different from the refuge state, and which imply NOT to respect the Balfour Declaration.
Seen from within Israel, people THINK as a “Jewish State”. As a consequence, non-jewish will have different rights. Also, some extremists consider themselves “superior”. And this is clearly a racist approach.
Seen from ourside Israel, people think that Israel is a democracy (there are elections). I heard several interviews in the US where they clearly state that Israel is a democracy. Which it is NOT the case. The laws can change at any time, and there is no Constitution (since the due date of 1948).
From a Democratic & Human Rights point of view, Israel is a huge threat for minorities within Israel, and for the palestinians of the occupied territories. One gan get plenty of evidences here : https://www.adalah.org/en/content/view/7189
Within the “Arab State” (I think of the pre-1967 borders), it is completely wrong to apply israelian laws & rules.
It is incredible tha the USA allowed (and incited through billions of $ of unconditional aids) a trampling of human rights. It is not only complacency. It is complicity.
The only direct & indirect help could maybe come from Russia & China. With maybe a new U.N.2 without veto and with sanctions voted at 2/3rd.
