The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health was founded by Larry Ruvo, in memory of his father who was a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease. His passion to build a world-class facility to treat and study the brain here in Las Vegas eventually led to legendary architect Frank Gehry creating the iconic design of the current building.

The Cleveland Clinic signed up to operate the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health in 2009, and the following year, world-renowned Alzheimer’s specialist Jeffrey Cummings, MD, ScD, was hired as director.

“Having a world-class institution like the Cleveland Clinic here is such an invaluable resource for our residents,” she said. “These doctors are at the top of their field and second to none.”

The center is part of Symphony Park; it is 65,000 square feet and functions as an out patient and research facility for the treatment of brain diseases. It also serves as the headquarters for Keep Memory Alive, the Las Vegas Alzheimer’s Association and the Las Vegas Parkinson’s Disease Association. Luxury development opportunities are still available in Symphony Park.

“I hope people will share this information so that anyone in need can find this amazing resource when they need it,” Councilwoman Fiore said. “Seventy is the new 50 if we take care of ourselves.”

On Wednesday, you can do just that at a free event. The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health’s 2018 Spring Into Health ‘Fare’ happens Wednesday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be mammograms, dental screenings, vision tests, caregiver resources and more.
