Here I have a couple of facts you (probably) didn’t know.

Let’s jump straight into it.

1. Why do whales spray water out out their blowholes?

The simplest answer is, they don’t. As you may already know, whales are mammals and therefore have lungs, capable of absorbing oxygen from the air only. So, whales come to the surface occasionally to exhale and inhale air.

As whales reach the water surface to breathe, they forcefully expel air through the blowhole. This spray, known as the blow, is often visible from far away as a white splash, which can also be caused by water resting on top of the blowhole.

So the water which was resting above the blowhole gets sprayed up and is misunderstood as water from the blowhole.

2. Why do we blink?

We all blink, but have you ever wondered why?

We blink to clean and moisten the eye. Each time the eyelids close salty secretions from the tear gland and swept over the surface of the eye. This helps to remove small dust particles and lubricates the eye. It helps to keep the eye sterile.

If we do not blink, small dust particles will make vision blurry and dryness will cause pain.

3. How do camels survive for weeks without water?

You might know that camels can survive upto 20 days without water. How do they do this?

One of the reasons that they can survive that long is because of their humps. They store fat in their humps (not water) and can use this to help them go longer without water.

They also sweat very little, so they are able to retain the water they drink for a long period of time. Camels can drink upto 100 litres of water at one time; this allows them to drink water in advance for days to come.

That’s it folks. I hope you like it. Follow for more :)
