The Anne Boleyn Theory of Funny Women

Mmm, perhaps you have a point, but first you have to remember she was bought up in France, which is a culture really not renowned for it’s inherent humour throughout the ages, and second I would say that the Brits love funny women, so I think they would have said it somewhere if Anne had been. I appreciate it might not have been then, of course, but national characters do tend to stay fairly steady and the culture here appreciates & celebrates women for being funny, even though I know it doesn’t always look like it from the yucky vile sexist tabloid papers. However even they lionise our funny female peeps such as Victoria Wood, Julie Walters, Miranda Hart, Jennifer Saunders, Dawn French etc, and trust me, on a day to day basis down the pub and in social situations most of the funniest people I know are female, and that is that is the adjective that both women and men use about them — FUNNY — it’s certainly not ‘magical’, ‘enigmatic’ or — God help us — “Quirky”.
