A Matter of Home Cleanliness and Safety

A lot of families can relate to the importance of keeping the home tidy, clean, and safe at all times for all members of the family.
For one, there is the potable water that should be monitored every now and then just to make sure that what family members drink is truly safe and free from any germ-carrying microorganisms. Father of 4, Anthony, 35, from Singapore shared how he was encouraged to buy high pressure cleaner, a liquid ring vacuum pump, a centrifugal pump, a water detection system, and the likes to personally be the one to assess, check, and clean his water system at home. “It can be costly to hire professionals, and if I can do it, I make it a point to fix it myself. I’m pretty much handy since my father trained me for these things before he passed away. I make sure too that we also filter or boil the water we drink. And the high pressure cleaner I bought just last month was for heavy duty cleaning of some equipment I have in my workshop at the backyard. I leave no chance for mosquitoes and other insect to make a home some nest in the little corners inside the house and our outdoor area because you’ll never know what disease they can carry. Dengue is something we fear since there has been yearly outbreak in our village.”
Cara, 29, a mother, also confessed how she became a neat freak since she started a family, “I do general cleaning every Saturday morning which does not only mean sweeping the floor but also wiping all the dust gathered by the furniture, ornaments, and displays around the house — from the living room, our rooms, and the kitchen, etcetera. I spray on insect repellent, and I make sure my bathroom is lemony fresh. I also keep a first aid kit around because my kids like playing outside and sometimes, they come home with wounds and bruises. I do this tirelessly because I don’t want any of my family member to be suddenly sick because of a dirty home. Even the way I prepare the food of the family is very much meticulous. You can say I really am a neat freak for a very good reason.”
Architect Salvoza, 36, also suggested that every home should have a fire alarm, a fire extinguisher, and a fire exit. “Early detection of fire is important — and if there is a family member who is trained to easily manage a fire at its onset, then a fire extinguisher is very much helpful in cases of emergency. And lastly, a fire exit is also something that every home should have that is easily accessible to all. So, when the fire is really impossible to extinguish, people can save their life and exit the house safely.”
Samantha 22, a young single mother, is also pretty much responsible it terms of home safety and cleanliness, “I hire a cleaning maid who comes to my house thrice a week. I am busy with my office work so I do not always have the time to manage the house. I also make sure that all our door locks are sturdy. We have a CCTV outside and inside our home, and I have a house alarm in case burglars force themselves in my house when no one is around.”
