A friend on Facebook, Antonia, gave an interesting response which feels linked to this point and the above ‘bloke-ish behaviours’ point. She said (with permission to repost):
“Maybe all this raises bigger questions about what feminism really means, and I think for me it simply means women being the person they want to be, and achieving the goals in the way they want to, without feeling held back because of gender.”
That’s an important point. I think I get a bit too close to suggesting there are right, and indeed wrong, ways to be a feminist. That wasn’t my intention. Thanks for highlighting this Antonia and giving me something to ponder on. I’m already learning, exactly what I hoped for with this project!
