Welcome to Classic Opera! Our group of professional musicians brings a wealth of national and international performing experience to a carefully curated selection of programmes of operatic arias, operetta, songs from the shows and musical theatre pieces. Our singers have performed with opera companies at home and abroad, including English Touring Opera, Opera per Roma and Opéra de Lyon, choral societies across the country and at festivals including Presteigne, Bushey, Wise Words; they have created operatic roles for world premiere performances, sung in televised broadcasts, and each combines their performing career with established teaching practices to bring on the next generation of singers.

Sopranos Julie Bale and Victoria McLaughlin, mezzo-soprano Michelle Harris and pianist Daniel Harding came together in 2004 to pool their performing experience and enjoy making music together. Together with friends, Classic Opera represents a small performing collective that thrives on creating programmes reflecting the nature of the occasion – when they are not performing separately in their individual projects!

As we write, Julie and Michelle are rehearsing with Harrow Philharmonic as soloists in tonight’s performance of Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, whilst Daniel is preparing a programme of choral works by Vivaldi and Mozart with the University of Kent Cecilian Choir and Sinfonia for a concert later this month. It’s always busy here at Classic Opera HQ; you know what they say about rest for the wicked…

Keep up with Classic Opera as we share with you our projects, performances, rehearsals and musical adventures; and if you need a soloist (or two) for your performance, get in touch – we’re on Twitter and Facebook too.
