I’ve been reporting on race for 40 years. Can we ever fix what’s broken?
Washington Post

It doesn’t have to be this way. I’m from Australia and I have a really positive view of black people. I grew up a bit before the internet was really mainstream and there was only nightly news. We didn’t have all the info about race relations in the US. All I saw was positive representations of black people as the successful black people made headlines as sports stars, musicians, actors and so on. Black culture was valued as the height of stylish and cool. I have taken in all that is said about race, now the internet has heaps more content on it, but I still have that impression of black success and cultural weight that I grew up with. I just can’t fathom the hate.
