Exactly. The reason certain companies outperform others is that they are in tune with their customers. They know who they are, what their aspirations are, and their product can fit into their world by slightly bringing them closer to those hopes and dreams. If you look at the Nikes, McDonald’s, and Apples of the world, those companies became hugely popular when they tapped into what their customers were thinking and feeling.
Medium is popular within the niche of those who enjoy reading and writing. What’s ironic is that their customer base has the skills to communicate to them exactly what they want. And it seems that base (or at least this section of that base) is communicating quite clearly what they like and dislike. But what we don’t know is this: is there a larger base that’s eating up the new changes hand to mouth? Or does the other section of the customer base even care? Or are the big brains simply misdirected in their efforts?
Who’s zooming who?
