Thanks, Jack. I have to say like with first attempts at anything there’s a high level of uncertainty over how it will be received. I think back to when I first started posting essays to Medium, there was a lot of hand wringing … but I have an idea what clicks with readers.

But this is way different.

It’s comedy. And comedy is subjective. Plus it’s fiction and fiction’s a whole ’nother type of writing than any type of writing I’ve done. As for the look of the book, the layout, and all that stuff, I have years of experience designing print material, so I know that’ll be fine. It’s just the actual idea that I hope achieves its goal.

Plus people have expectations of fiction. I think people want to have a different experience from their own. They want all that good stuff—to live the life of someone else, to get all the feels vicariously, and then be able to put it down and go grocery shopping.

Nonfiction generally is about the facts. The nuts and bolts of a topic.

Sounds like I’m saying, I’ve built a beautiful, let’s hope it get you to where you want to go. I’d better stop now. My insecurities are showing.

Short answer—

IT’S WAY HARDER.
