It’s Better to be DONE Than PERFECT

Even though I decided at the outset of this blog that I’d write daily, short pieces — or even just ideas, I get stuck on the notion that I need to develop these thoughts into complete articles. And so I post nothing. That wasn’t my plan. Just the opposite, in fact.

I recently heard on a podcast (I don’t remember which one, but I think it was Stacy Curtis’s Write of Your Life) that “it’s better to be done than perfect.” (see? I don’t even have to stop and confirm the source of this idea — cool, huh?)

It’s better to be done than perfect.

The speaker was talking directly to me (you can think she was talking to you, too, if you want), because I tend to drag things out looking at every last flaw or typo. Sure, editing is a good thing. But edit and just publish the thing already! It really doesn’t have to be perfect. You can always go back and fix things.

. . . just like this post!

Ahhh! I feel better already.
