In the wake of the devastating earthquake on August 14, please consider donating to these local community-focused groups on the ground in Haiti providing emergency support.

On August 14, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit southwest Haiti, with at least 1,400 dead and more than a million people estimated impacted by the disaster. Buildings and infrastructure are in ruins, hospitals are overwhelmed, and there is an urgent need for medical assistance, food, water, and other emergency supplies.

The people of Haiti need your help during this incredibly difficult time. Please consider lending financial support to groups that work directly from Haiti, staffed by Haitians, and are working across the affected regions. Several of these groups are members of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Haiti Action Network, who since 2009 have responded to disaster relief needs including after the 2010 earthquake and Hurricane Matthew.

Health Equity International

Health Equity International is providing immediate lifesaving care to people — evacuating patients from the earthquake zone to their hospital; providing critical surgical and emergency care; and providing medications and resources to other hospitals treating patients in the region.

Haiti Development Institute

The Haiti Development Institute has been working directly with community organizations that are responding on the ground, channeling disaster assistance to these smaller local organizations. HDI makes their grants and what they’ve achieved public on their website.

FOKAL

FOKAL Haiti relief fund is managing donations and channeling them immediately and directly to local organizations providing support for communities, including smallholder farmers associations, grassroots women’s organizations, and small businesses who are serving as first responders on the ground.

Haitian Health Foundation

The Haitian Health Foundation is providing critical services, including treating people in their health clinic and the field, transporting the wounded, sharing resources, and coordinating to bring more resources to the local communities swiftly.

Hope for Haiti

Hope for Haiti and its 60 Haitian staff have been working on the ground since the earthquake hit, distributing prepositioned emergency kits and caring for community members through its Infirmary St. Etienne.

The Clinton Foundation has worked for many years to support disaster recovery efforts and promote economic development in Haiti through a wide range of programs. Read more about these efforts here. This work continues — and other members of the CGI Haiti Action Network have already mobilized to support relief efforts on the ground over the past several days:

Direct Relief is mobilizing medical supplies to the country, including emergency supplies that were prepositioned in the region in the event of a disaster;

Partners in Health is the largest nongovernmental healthcare provider in Haiti and immediately began organizing staff and supplies to respond;

World Central Kitchen has deployed teams on the ground to help with relief efforts and provide meals to people in need;

The Afya Foundation has prepared shipments of emergency medical supplies that are being shipped directly to the ground in Haiti;

Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) has deployed a rapid response team to the ground in Haiti, to help assess and address the most urgent needs;

Project Medishare is mobilizing critically needed medical supplies and personnel to deploy to the hardest-hit areas.

The Clinton Foundation’s mission is to create economic opportunity, improve public health, and inspire civic engagement and service.
