Let me tell you a story of how Occam’s Razor got it all wrong, or rather, how a Western misinterpretation of the idea has become an excuse to forego science.
Often incorrectly cited as “The simplest explanation is usually the correct one”, the actual principle is “Among competing hypotheses, the one with the fewest assumptions should be selected.”
Vastly different meanings and conclusions. But like many misheard song lyrics, a simple misunderstanding can forever color the way a person looks at the world.
In my opinion, and it is entirely that, American culture has become pacified with the idea that simple is good, and that complex things are too hard. It is an infinite excuse that the problems the world faces today are something that will take years if not decades to solve.
And frankly, that is Bullshit.
The stories I publish will be long, and they will be complex; they will touch upon every detail which is relevant for the scope.
In the myopic pursuit of simplicity, we have forgotten how deeply interconnected so many systems are to each other.
I am Clockwork. And I enjoy exploring the mechanisms of the world.
