Having The Right Attitude

Philippians 1:27:
Most important, live together in a manner worthy of Christ’s gospel. Do this, whether I come and see you or I’m absent and hear about you. Do this so that you stand firm, united in one spirit and mind as you struggle together to remain faithful to the gospel.

Sometimes in our lives, it isn’t easy to have the right attitude about everything. But if you think about it, in a sense, your attitude represents the kind of person you are. For example, if you have an upbeat, positive attitude, some might think you’re optimistic. Therefore, as Christians, we should uphold a Christ-like attitude in everything we do, not only for our personal benefit, but for the benefit of our brothers and sisters in Christ around us. Paul tells us in Philippians 1 that having an attitude like Christ’s allows us to stand firm and united together in one spirit. It allows us to become one body of believers who all have one amazing thing in common: Christ. Having a Christ-like attitude makes the struggle of being influenced by those who aren’t remaining faithful to the gospel easier to overcome, because having a Christ-like attitude means having fellow believers to help you. God wants us to use each other to build ourselves and others up. And, like Paul wrote, do it when you are being watched, or you are alone. True discipline is doing the right thing when no one is watching.
