“Puffin OS” for “Smartphone 2.0”
Puffin made its name as the fastest mobile browser with more than 100 million users on iOS and Android. Puffin recently launched “Puffin Internet Terminal” as the most cost-effective Internet computer to bridge the digital divide and “Puffin Secure Browser” on Windows and Mac as the most secure browser to eliminate the possibility for Puffin to infect PC with viruses. Today, Puffin unveils “Puffin OS” as the foundation of “Smartphone 2.0” — the smartphone for the next 2 billion users in the next 20 years.
Puffin makes web applications wicked fast. Puffin on a $100 phone can run web applications faster than native apps on a $1,000 phone. We are curious how much Puffin can help for smartphones at $50. It turns out most of the performance issues are intrinsic to the OS, and therefore, we decide to make the Puffin OS to cast magic spells on the $50 phones. We are also curious how much Puffin can help reducing mobile data usage. If Puffin consumes 80% less mobile data, how much money Puffin can save for carriers to deploy the $50 phones.
Our POC is based on Nokia 1, which is available at $60 on Amazon. We replaced the Android OS on Nokia 1 with the Puffin OS to make Nokia 1 much more powerful and attractive to consumers. Stay tuned for more details of the Puffin OS.
