About the Program?

The AWS Community Builders program offers technical resources, education, and networking opportunities to AWS technical enthusiasts and emerging thought leaders who are passionate about sharing knowledge and connecting with the technical community.

Throughout this program, AWS Subject Matter Experts will mentor us by providing informative webinars, sharing insights about the latest services, guiding us on how to create technical content and sharing AWS knowledge across online and in-person communities. This program accepts limited number of members per year. Everyone’s welcomed to AWS Community, Come Join us.

Who Can Apply?

Any individual who is 18 or older and passionate about building on AWS can apply to join the AWS Community Builders program.

Applications are open twice a year by AWS and can be made on the AWS Community Builder page. The AWS Community Builders program seeks applicants from all regions, demographics, and underrepresented communities.

How I got Accepted?

There’s no hard and fast rule on how to get accepted into the program, but in my application I shared about my contributions:

  • Shared my blog post from Medium
  • Shared my YouTube channel where I make AWS related Videos
  • I am 2 x AWS Certified
  • Shared my GitHub projects and open source contributions
  • Actively Shared AWS resources on LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Was Speaker in a Webinar where I talked about Cloud Computing

I think these were some of the pointers for my selection but Honestly, once again I am saying, there’s no specific criteria for being accepted into the program, applications will generally be viewed for the evidence and accuracy of technical content.

How to Get Accepted ?

There are many different ways we can get involved, so find the ways which work best for you. Here’s a few tips that can assist us in getting accepted into the program.

Blogging:

We can write articles and blogs on topics which we are passionate about, not necessarily on AWS, but it can be of any Cloud. We can talk about AWS services, hands-on, can share our personal experiences in achieving specific certifications and many more. It can also help in building our professional writing skills

YouTube Channel:

We can start a YouTube channel if we are passionate about teaching and sharing our knowledge online, can talk about various services, can create a whole series on particular certification like AWS Cloud Practitioner. We need not to worry about lots of fancy equipment's; we can make do with a half-decent phone!

Hosting Webinars & Events:

We can also take part in AWS events as a speaker or can also host a webinar at our University/ College or at any AWS Meetups. Meetup Groups are absolutely crying out for more speakers for their events. Reach out to the organizers of Meetup groups, and chat with them and have a successful session. It will provide great networking opportunities and assists meeting like minded people.

Open Source Contributions:

One can contribute to the open source projects related to Cloud or can work in teams creating different architectures, projects etc.

Sharing Knowledge Online:

Guiding people on tech forums can go a long way. Listening and contributing to fruitful discussions on cloud and tech. We can share our knowledge and help people on AWS forums, Reddit, Stack Overflow, Slack Channels, discord Servers and many more.

Social Media:

We have a great opportunity to share our thoughts and learn from each other through social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter by actively posting about latest AWS services, news with the hashtags #aws or #awscommunity. The community also extends to other platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and even TikTok.

Community Organizations:

One can host AWS User Group, invite speakers to share their expertise on AWS , can have Community meetups, become AWS APN Ambassador, AWS Educate Ambassador spreading awareness about AWS. Its rightly said that sharing our knowledge and assisting others is one of the best ways to increase our knowledge.
