Bella Brings High-Profile Chef to South Fulton
This week, residents have an opportunity to preview Bella, a new boutique dining experience at The Shops at Camp Creek Village located at Butner Rd. and Camp Creek Pkwy. The menu is carefully curated by high-profile chef Keoko Turner, who wants patrons to think of the new upscale restaurant as “not really fussy fine dining but refined food.”
Turner, who first started cooking at the age of 13, received his training at the Culinary Institute of America. The restaurant industry veteran paid his dues in New York City, the country’s undisputed food capital, where he worked for 18 years. Most recently he served as executive chef at the Intercontinental in Buckhead.
Bella is owned by Shema Fulton, a South Fulton resident. She’s the proprietor of Baltimore Crab & Seafood and Pearl Restaurant and Lounge, and a partner in R&B songstress K. Michelle’s Puff &Petals Lounge. She wanted to open a smaller restaurant and shared the concept with Turner, who she couldn’t speak of more highly. She’s excited about what he brings to the table, literally, citing not only his experience, but a long list of celebrities and tastemakers that he’s cooked for, including Oprah Winfrey.
“He’s very experienced and talented and I really wanted to have the opportunity to feature him, and let him do his own thing,” Fulton said. “We’re doing things differently than we’ve done at my other restaurants. We’re featuring organic, high quality and specialty foods.”
Currently, Bella offers breakfast, lunch and evening bites. The lobster roll and kale salad are perfect for summer and highly recommended. In addition to some of the upscale choices on the menu, which is still being finalized, the restaurant will also offer daily specials.
Bella has already opened to rave reviews, including those from the restaurant’s namesake, Fulton’s own daughter. When asked if she might like to be a restauranteur when she grows up, she said with confidence, “I’m gonna take over.”
