You make an interesting point about periodically showing the overview slide to guide the audience through — something that is becoming increasingly common in academia is to have a bar along the top of all your slides indicating where in the presentation you are. Take a look at the two slides attached, with one showing ‘Data’ highlighted along the top and one showing ‘Reporting’ as the area of the presentation.

Perhaps a different way of achieving the same thing, without having to interupt your talk to talk through the outline repeatedly.
