Cocos-BCX TestNet Released to Promote Virtual City-State of Games

On June 6, Cocos-BCX TestNet 1.0 “Gang Rinpoche” public beta testing was officially launched, representing the happiness of exploring unknowns by the team and community.

During the launching event, Cocos-BCX released the $1 million “TestNet Incentive Program (Phase I)”, updated Technical Documentation 2.0, and Pan-node Ecosystem Program, Developer Program, SDK, Wallet, Browser, DEMO game, etc.

At the press conference, Cocos-BCX Founder HaozhiChen, Cocos-BCX Chief Technology Consultant Kevin, Cocos-BCX Technology Lead Reed, DAppReview Founder FengxuanNiu, BlockVC Partner Kira, head of Bitpie in ChinaHaizhou Wang, and White Matrix CEO Xiao Wu shared their opinions on blockchain gaming ecosystem.

Haozhi Chen said: “Cocos-BCX supports effective game operation and transaction of NFT tools, and also gives public chains more supports to help contact more excellent developers to provide service worldwide. Today, we are here to launch the public beta testing with the preliminary development work completed, which is a small step for us. We believe that our progress and achievements will be further released in2019, and also expect long-standing support from the community.”

Haozhi Chen: Games and Virtual City-State

Chen said that his speech was not only a warm-up but also an expression of awe and yearning for the blockchain world.

In the long river of human civilization, there is a form of state called city-state, which originates from many scattered autonomous towns. Traders, scholars, businessmen and financial practitioners in the city form guilds to strive for the right to speak on public affairs. At the same time, towns also have councils set up by citizens to influence or directly control the city’s administrative and legislative decision-making power.

“This is similar to the decentralized blockchain technology and ecosystem now, but our game industry today is not a virtual city-state.” Chen said, “The current gaming industry is more of a virtual game world. In the future, we will soon move on to the next stage, playing in a virtual world. In the end, the virtual world will be our world.”

According to Chen, there will be three stages:

  • In the virtual game world
  • Playing in the virtual world
  • The virtual world is the world

“We can picture the future through the past several months of exploration.”

“The NFT and revenue model as we often mention, combined with heroes in the real world, will become a game that can add content continuously, which can be durably effective, traded, and iterable through blockchain technology, further stimulating the extension of the game life cycle. This is the real value of NFT and revenue model as I say.”

Chen also said that 5G, cloud games, VR, MR and other technologies are needed to support new ways of playing, new computing platforms and use patterns. Cocos engine has done a lot of work and achieved good results over the past eight years:

So far, Cocos engine has a market share of 45% in the Chinese mobile game market and 53% in the minigame market, ranking first in the Chinese market and second in the global market, with 1.3 million developers and 300,000 active developers globally, covering more than one billion players worldwide.

In 2019, the Cocos engine began to support cloud games, and in May, it established the cooperation with Unicom on the innovation and development of 5G.

“Thus, in the process of exploring the blockchain game, we have seen oceans of stars and we are also working pragmatically. In addition, we are also the most resourceful team in the industry.” Chen explained.

Cocos-BCX, as the next generation of digital game economy platform, will not stop at providing public chain infrastructure and low-barrier blockchain game development environment, but will support more public chains to help them reach more high-quality developers.

“Today, we have the preliminary development work completed and our public beta testing released. It is a small step for us, but we believe that our progress and achievements will be further releasedin2019, and also expect long-standing support from the community.”

Kevin & Reed: Cocos-BCX Technology Ecosystem and $1 Million Incentive Program

Kevin detailed the technological progress and future expectation of Cocos-BCX.

According to Kevin, after several iterations, Cocos-BCX network and supporting environment have been increasingly improved, which is able to provide users with complete blockchain game, application design, development, operation and assets circulation solutions.

  • Improved, safe and easy-to-use smart contract
  • Overall operation of atomic transactions
  • Easy-to-use and trustable on-chain randomness
  • Whole process of anti-cheat design
  • Separation of asset ownership and use right
  • Complete development, debugging and operation tools

“Common functions and interoperable operation of Cocos-BCX public chain are built into the contract system, making it easy for developers to write and use contract. The contract code is compiled and run on the chain directly without being replaced with intermediary language code. Source code is readable on-chain, avoiding validation bug of target code. Cocos-BCX public chain contract adopts Lua, which is commonly used in game development, and supports most Lua native library functions. Iteration, contract update and bug fixing are also supported.” Kevin explained.

“Interestingly, Cocos-BCX smart contract is iterative,” said Kevin, “which can greatly reduce the time of thinking and setbacks in the process of development.”

In addition, Cocos-BCX public chain supports atomic merges of operations and de-intermediary circulation based on atomic transactions, providing internal trustable randomness of the blockchain system, and has mechanisms that prevent BP and developers from cheating.

Cocos-BCX Technology Lead Reed shared his opinions of Cocos-BCX ecosystem and $1 million TestNet Incentive Program.

According to Reed, ecosystem is derived from a biological term used to describe interactive influence between biome communities and their relationships to the environment in which they live. Ecosystem is always a complicated system involving a variety of roles and relations, which have since been widely used in the business world.

Blockchain projects tend to leave space on the official website or white paper to explain ecosystem development, or set up special foundation to promote ecosystem development. Therefore, ecosystem building is of great importance to blockchain projects.

“Currently, Cocos-BCX ecosystem development aims to attract greater participation and develop more applications, coupling with $1 million TestNet Incentive Program (Phase I) and Pan-node Ecosystem Program.”
