Code for JC’s three additional brigade leaders, Sharad Hegde, Roberto Martin and Tom Bruning
Sharad Hegde, Code for JC’s Technology Evangelist and Tech-Ed Lead (External Management)

Our New Technology Evangelist and Tech-Ed Lead (external management) is Sharad Hegde.

Mr. Hedge currently is the Director of Engineering for Open JC and Founding Partner of Futuriste.

Mr. Hegde will collaborate with other Code for JC leaders to inventory needs and support best practices in managing the organization.

Mr. Hegde will evaluate and implement technology solutions to support instructional, administrative, operational, and support services. He will also manage data systems that track operations, logistics and success.

Some of his functions will lead Code for JC project teams to deliver value:
» Developer effectiveness (standards, training, tools and best practices)
» DevOps, QA, Ops, Security, Identity Management
» Strategy and Planning
» Elicit, educate and mentor other core teams on best practices
» Help outline tools that new groups might use to begin working on a projects, such as assisting with the development of collaboration or marketing tools (e.g. growth hacking)
» Help outline next steps or technology needs for projects at different stages of growth.
» Recommend, implement maintain technology infrastructure:
— hosts and tools for database management — hosts and tools for website management — hosts and tools for code management — hosts and tools for collaborative teams — project and leadership teams

Roberto Martin, Technology Lead (Internal Management)

Our New Technology Lead (internal management) is Roberto Martin.

Mr. Martin is a Software Engineer as an Android Developer.

He will collaborate with other leaders to inventory needs and support best practices.

Tom Bruning, Projects Management Lead

Our New Projects Management Lead is Tom Bruning.

Mr. Bruning is an Adjunct Instructor (Business Statistics) at NJCU and an activist for open source, open data and the indieweb.

Many of our members have great ideas for projects; often those ideas can stagnate without the right combination of skills, partnership, and organization. The Projects Lead advises maintainers on how to thoughtfully advance their projects through development stages to create a truly impactful product. Mr. Bruning will have the general knowledge of all active projects and communicate regularly with project maintainers.

His points of ownership include (but are not limited to):
» Communicating with project maintainers to outline steps for advancement and identify project needs
» Updating and maintain project repo on Code for JC website
» Collecting problem statements from partner organizations
» Facilitating partnership between projects and relevant nonprofits and/or government
» Working closely with the Volunteer Lead to pair members with appropriate projects

Mr. Bruning will help teams collaborate:
» Manage, communicate, liaison with and align project leads
» Lead strategic planning around project launches, project needs, overall tracking of life cycle/phase of projects including project sunsets
» Help projects staff up for each stage of their lifecycle and help members find projects that can use them
» Evaluate if new project ideas are feasible, i.e. timing, thematic fit into Code for JC’s theory of change/values, etc.
» Collaborate with Volunteer and Technology Leads to assist in the incubation of new projects
» Help develop project development process, to help volunteers understand how to launch new projects and incubate new ones.
» Communicate project milestones and context for marketing, outreach, funding, and recruiting efforts.
» + Review and develop project methodology and tools
» + Engage and educate project leads on these tools and methodologies
