This is the first post about Codepad.co and I hope it will be interesting for you. We started building Codepad in summer of 2015, after six months we released the first version with plenty of features and social media interaction tools. We wanted to build a new social/useful website for developers and that’s why we continue to develop Codepad.

There are no social engaged websites for developers

Codepad fills a distinct void. That’s why we decided to create a developers’ network. We want to interact with developers around the world, not just our team. We want to share snippets and help each other in our work.

Codepad team

The Codepad team is very small; we are three guys who work on developing the service. We are experienced guys and have an extensive background in web development. We’ll share more details about the team in upcoming next posts.

You always can follow us on the Codepad developers page.

Codepad is different from other websites

Social interactions are more engaged on Codepad in comparison with other resources. Plus, Codepad is used for sharing private snippets (without social interaction). We want to build a very democratic tool for developers, for example — popular snippets are chosen by a Codepad algorithm and we don’t make them popular manually, you decide which snippets are useful.

You can watch this video and see how to use Codepad and what features are built in.

We continue developing

We’re in process of developing the new features for Codepad and some design fixes. We’ll finish and release new features in March.

Some of the new features include:

  1. Playgrounds — Create projects using a few snippets. You can preview the result in the same window.
  2. Collections collaboration — Collection owners can add collaborators to private or public collections. The team can save and use the snippets from the private collection of the owner.
  3. Many improvements on the website make for better Codepad interactions.

It’s a free service

We want to maintain the free website because we love open source; we don’t have plans to monetize it.

We are happy with feedback after the Codepad release, and are thankful to be featured on many good resources:
