So, we’re all familiar with the 9–5. A job when you start working from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. That is a total of 8 hours of work. And you work from Monday until Friday so that means you work a total of 40 hours per week.

Now, most people can never escape the 9–5. (And just to clarify, it is 100000% okay to work a 9–5 if you’re happy with that. This blog is directed to the people who want to escape the 9–5 grind!) The biggest reason why they can’t escape the 9–5 is because they never invest in themselves.

And if you didn’t know, the only investment which has a 100% guarantee return is investing in yourself. Period! What most people do, is they work a 9–5, party the rest of the time, and spend their weekends “resting”, or complaining about their life.

The “47-Hour Rule” “states: “For every 40 hours you work, you will invest 7 hours in bettering yourself”. Now that definition is completely made up. To be completely honest I heard this somewhere and I thought it was completely genius. This is just a version of my “47-Hour Rule”.

Now, the question is: “What should I do these 7 hours?”. Well, firstly it’s important to know that 7 is just a number. This is mostly hinting at the fact that if you’re going to work Monday-Friday you should spend your weekends on yourself.

And as for the “what should you do” part, it’s pretty simple. Read, learn, sharpen your skills, workout, meditate, journal, etc.
