A Purrrfect Announcement
Okay, friends. I have an announcement. WE HAVE A BABY. 🤰
A baby cat that is. And by that I mean, a 9-year-old mix that we’re going to love and cherish for the rest of our lives. 💛🐱
World, meet Marigold.

She’s a seasoned puss with a sweet personality and a love for cuddles. Marigold likes hiding under the bed and couch, being scratched & pet, and that’s all I really know about her at this point. (We’re still getting to know each other).
We crossed paths at the right time
It was a casual Saturday afternoon and we wanted to escape the apartment for a bit. It had been a casual day of chilling and studying, so we wanted to do something to treat ourselves. We headed over to Ross to see if we could find some discount hidden gems for the apartment. No luck. That’s what we get for going shopping during move in weekend.
Jokingly (but always so seriously) I suggested we go to Petsmart to look at the animals. We had been chatting about adopting a dog for a while, so I figured maybe they would have them and we could play with some to get excited for when we would get one. We walked in, and I saw the cages! I got super excited and walked (ran) up to them, only to discover that they were all cats…. Disappointed, we decided to cheer ourselves up with some cat cuddles (always purrrfect). We made our way through the lines of cats, and then Nemanja said it.
Let’s get a cat.
😱🤤👀😍 YES. I had been waiting for this day to come for years.
After chatting with the lovely cat lady, we narrowed our choices down to two cats — both middle aged cats with a lot of spunk. There was something about Marigold though that really caught us. It could have been her desire to constantly be touched, or her sweet sweet purrs, but she melted our hearts.
She is now part of the Demic-Hays family.

Marigolds Mysterious Past
Before we found Marigold taking a nap in the Flagstaff Petsmart, she was home to another college student. This gal apparently seemed to love her, but when she took Marigold back home for the summer her dad wasn’t about it. He made his daughter return Marigold to the Arc Cat Sanctuary where she adopted her. Not cool, dad.
Before this gal, we’re not sure where Marigold called home. Was it an old grandma’s house, was it the wild streets of Flagstaff, or was she a wild woman? We may never know.
Regardless of Marigold’s crazy past, we’re happy we can be her new forever home.
