The use of gender-based biological differences to judge people’s ability at work is old. There is nothing new that the ex-male-Googler shared that would need a fresh round of debate. Google expects everyone’s participation to create a more equitable gender representation at work. Google’s belief and mission are well publicized. He is entitled to his opinions and firmly held belief about women’s ability based on biology. But he is not entitled to work at Google when he is part of the reality that Google is trying to correct. This guy’s view is not new. He is the norm. It is the reality today. It exists in many work places with traditionally male-dominated roles. He is gone. But people who share his views are there still. Trust me. Why are there so many people think there is something new that we need to explore? He will get hired by another tech firm who believes that our abilities are largely pre-determined and limited inevitably based on our assigned-gender, and work comfortably with women who now know and accept that is how he evaluates his abilities in relation to them.
