HOOPNERDZ
The Hoops & Nerds Foundation, commonly referred to as Hoopnerdz, is a multifaceted basketball education organization.
The Hoops & Nerds Foundation believes that children deserve the opportunity to pursue their dreams. While specifically supporting the love of basketball found in children, we at Hoopnerdz firmly believe children should also be exposed the learning opportunities with science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Hoopnerdz endeavors to raise awareness, through basketball and education, the ever-changing professional opportunities that await the next generation of leaders. We don’t squash dreams at Hoopnerdz, however, we are sober minded about a child’s opportunity to play basketball professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
When we say, “Hoop” we are referring to the sport basketball.
When we say, “Nerd” we are referring to an expert in a particular technical field.
We call ourselves Hoopnerdz because, we first, have a unwaivering love of basketball and a deep knowledge of the game. Many of us grew up playing and watching basketball but after college we went “pro” in other more common fields; financial services, marketing, procurement, etc.
Hoops & Nerds Foundations non-profit specifically works with children to use basketball to expose children to Big Data. Big Data is extremely large data sets that may be analyzed computationally to reveal patterns, trends, and associations, especially relating to human behavior and interactions.
With Big Data as the central focus point we steer children to look at opportunities developing in the career spaces of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
Hoopnerdz is the home of various ventures; apparel, basketball camps, AAU team sponsorship, individual player development sessions, etc.
