Chili pie.

In Texas we got chili pie at Little League games. The concession stand used Wolf Brand Chili, never with beans. They’d split open a small bag of Fritoes, sideways, the long side. They’d ladle the hot chili over the chips and if you wanted, and I always did, they topped the chili with cheese, onions and jalapeños. They’d hand us the bag, a plastic spoon and a napkin. We’d had them a quarter for all that. (I’m old.)

There are several restaurants in Austin where I now live that sell those things, still. I’m sure they can’t taste as great as those at the games tasted, as I remember them tasting.

Thanks for the memory!
