Thanks for introducing yourself so thoroughly, Stephen Kent. (Medium mobile isn’t allowing me to call you out, sorry.) One of my very best friends is an ISTJ so I am very familiar with your type, generally speaking only, of course.
I scored very nearly in the middle on the F-T and the I-E, although I am clearly more comfortable as an introvert. But I feel and think pretty evenly and usually use both in the same situation which I find helpful. I am off the charts on my N and P and that is correct. I have a really hard time with my SJ self but I’m aware of that. I had to develop both in order to do the work I did well.
My favorite question on the test is which do you prefer, mercy or justice. I was stumped because to me mercy is justice. I was in a study so took the test several times. I always left that question blank until I completed all the other questions yet I don’t recall how I answered it. Probably with mercy.
As I wrote Emily, I believe the greatest gift to me of Myers-Briggs was realizing we are all different, even among our like types because we all vary in our preferences. And therefore, I approach people ready to accept and find likeness rather than differences. I enjoy everyone’s unique take on life. People intrigue me. I have a hard time understanding why we can’t all accept our differences, enjoy our likenesses and get along.
Thanks again for sharing so much of yourself. You offer yourself in great generosity when you write, “I hope I could be of more help with my summary of my situation and helping readers similar to me.” You are kind to offer yourself so openly to help those similar to you. Thank you.
