Great post. As someone leaning Stein but open to being convinced, anybody want to make the case for feeling the Johnson to me? Here are my sticking points: anti-net neutrality, pro-private prisons, pro-TPP, very much down with the Citizens United “corporate money = protected political speech” argument.
Just to be clear, some qualifiers: I’m not universally thrilled with the Green platform either — their position on nuclear in particular strikes me as a bit bassackwards, for instance— but the no-no’s I see there aren’t as big as the ones above. And I think in terms of the really fundamental issues, like corruption and civil liberties in the era of mass surveillance, both Green and Libertarian platforms are far better than those of either major party. And for the record, if Johnson by some miracle ends up having a legitimate chance at actually winning (I think a really ambitious best-case scenario for Stein is breaking the 5% threshold to get federal assistance next cycle), then I’ll seriously consider actual-voting Libertarian rather than protest-voting Green.
