It became officially official on the 24th July 2023. My beloved Twitter is no longer going to be known by it’s birth name. Instead, new owner Elon Musk has decided to get rid of the old and bring in the new. By changing the name to ‘X’.

FYI this isn’t 21st Century Graphic Design, it’s an existing font thats been around for years

Elon. Where to begin. If you haven’t heard of him you’ve probably just come out of a 15 year coma. The world’s richest man, owner of SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company and former owner of PayPal. He wants to make Twitter into a ‘town hall’. A 1 stop shop for creators, visitors, businesses, users and communities to thrive. Drawing on his experience across multiple industries to transform Twitter into his perfect vision of a social media platform. It all sounds lovely. Apart from that goddamn name.

‘X’ isn’t sexy or cool. It might have been, in the formative years of the internet but we’ve moved on. Most people associate it with porn if we’re going to be completely honest. Twitter, however, is synonymous with public opinion and is both sexy and cool. There’s many high profile politicians or celebrities that announce news to the world via social media. Specifically Twitter. Nobody pays the same attention to a Facebook post or an Insta pic as they do a Tweet. Oh, and on that subject…
