The word “globe” comes from the Latin word globus, meaning sphere or globe.

The earliest terrestrial globe appeared in the 3rd century BC but the earliest extant terrestrial globe, “The Erdapfel” a.k.a. Earth Apple was created by Martin Behaim between 1491 and 1493 in Nuremberg (Germany).

With a diameter of 50 cm , the globe included the discoveries of the voyages of Marco Polo and showed an enlarged Eurasian continent. Columbus returned to Spain in the Spring of 1493, for this reason his discoveries are not mentioned.

Our collectible of the month, the Bar-globe, combines an original, handmade piece of art with a mini-bar to serve lovely drinks to your guest!

The globe sphere opens up to reveal a hidden space where you can store bottles and glasses…

You can find vintage bar globes all over the world, but the original ones come from Italy. The well known Italian globe manufacturer Zoffoli creates impressive globes with a traditional technique. Lifting up the northern emisphere you can store 4 or 5 bottles with glasses and more bottles on the base. The globe ball is about 40 cm in diameters and the weight is approximately 10 kg. Floor-stand or desk-top globe-bars may represent a great decor addition for your home.

In this video Barry Belcher shows us how to store your favorite drinks using a vintage globe to create a Bar-Globe in the middle of the Earth! Start by cutting along the Equatore and find the proper base to create your favorite mini-bar!

Surprise your guests with an impressive and curoius piece of furniture!
