Editing” by Eduardo Zárate on Flickr.

Improve. Get Better.

But not an arms race to see who is the most skilled.

An idea of perfection and its doubt working together towards something more.

Cooperation is key, but it is so hard to give yourself and your ideas to the critical eye.

Effort, lack of sleep, and waning enthusiasm are all part of creating something. The long nights that stretch into tired days are a part of an essential process of figuring out how to move forward from an initial idea.

The behind the scenes of life is still in the making.

All scenes on the cutting room floor are waiting for a director’s cut that may never be released.

Last year we made a few videos taking a look at how some of us at Comatose record our segments.

After running into some more time I decided to do another one… over a year after our last. It was a fun experience and I was surprised at how I noticed my own progress in recording.

I’ve managed to learn a bit more about how to effectively record and was surprised when I had finished earlier than I planned.

It’s hard to appreciate improvement when it happens slowly.

Editing can make it even harder.

Listen to this week’s episode, Episode 117 — Allen Ginsberg, Dreams, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt:

Written by John Bauer of Comatose.

Comatose is a weekly series of amusing anecdotes, insightful commentary, and pithy stories. Every week three contributors are featured in short segments. The segments, though often unrelated, are tied together using music and narration to set the scene. Relax and enjoy the ride while listening to topics as varied as love, birthdays, and reciprocity.

You can find Comatose on Facebook, Twitter, iTunes, and Stitcher.
