However I have always wondered where the notion that filter coffee was discovered in Chennai (I’ve heard this claim many a times)/Tam Brahm association came about. I thought(someone correct me if I am wrong)it was Baba Budan a Sufi saint from Arabia who first planted coffee seeds in Chikmagalur in Karnataka on a hill (BabaBudan Giri) where coffee plantations came around and then spread to other parts of the south.
