Drumpf, Fearmonger-in-Chief
The last several months has been an exciting adventure into watching the collapse of a political party. None of us have ever had the experience of watching this happen in our lifetime. It’s hard to quantify or adequately describe as it’s a political unicorn in our midst.
For decades now the establishment has been driving wedges between people as it viewed it as the best way to maintain their people and stay relevant. They clearly never pondered what would happen if their rhetoric went too far for too long. You essentially fracture the populace is a very bitter us v. them mentality which in part led to our lovely Civil War a century plus ago.
Republicans have had a tremendously difficult time as of that. Since Reagan they got crushed twice by Clinton, George W. Bush lost to Al Gore if you recall and won re-election on a nationalist rally after 9/11. Since then though, John McCain and Mitt Romney were destroyed by Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton has the machine, the power, the experience and the money behind her and will be very difficult to overcome.
Enter Donald Drumpf. A man who somehow champions working class people despite never actually being one of them. He is somehow the champion of the rural and the poor despite growing up in Queens to a slumlord father with millions of dollars and matriculating out of private schools into an Ivy League powerhouse. Yes, somehow he represents these people. He has proven that he is incapable of telling the truth. Politifact shows that more than 70% of the things he says are simply not true. So, he is a liar. He has admitted he plays to people’s fantasies. He admits he will lie to you and pretend to be who you want, nay, need him to be. This doesn’t matter.
He stole his slogan and repurposed it. “Make American Great Again” is a dog whistle to white people. What is really means is, “Let’s make American WHITE again.” and “Let’s make America Male dominated again.” The message is very clear, and you can tell by who it resonates with.
His support is about 30% of Republicans. To anyone who has been around this country that seems about right. That’s about 15% of the population. I think we could agree that 15% of this country is racist, homophobic, bigoted, and sexist. I am not remotely surprised that those who support him made up their minds very early and only become stauncher supporters. When was the last time there was a candidate for this 15% of people? When was the last time we had a racist, sexist, bigot running for President proudly proclaiming all the ignorant things he says? Never. These people found their guy.
Why is Drumpf an idiot? Let’s start with the wall. The wall is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. If you build a wall on the border you can still go over it and under it. Sweet Drumpf, build it 10 feet taller. THEY WILL STILL TUNNEL UNDER IT! Has this guy never bothered to learn anything about how cartels and coyotes conduct business? A wall isn’t a solution, it’s grandiose rhetoric. It’s designed specifically for the racists who hate Mexicans to stand up and yell ‘Merica and ‘build a wall!’ not realizing that A. won’t happen, and B. wouldn’t help. Just as importantly, we’re going to sacrifice our hundreds of billions of dollars worth of trade to build a fence that won’t work?
On what planet does that make sense? Oh, that’s right, racist bigots who are more interested in being hateful than insightful. I am pretty sure the only reason in our Constitution we do not have a clause excluding a candidate from consideration for advocating War Crimes is because no one ever dreamed a candidate would actually do that and/or be viable.
Donald Drumpf advocating war crimes in murdering the families of terrorists is batshit crazy. Under his plan, the American soldier who was the brother of the terrorist in San Bernadino would be arrested and executed. Let’s recap, Donald Drumpf wants to murder US citizens because they have a relative who is a terrorist. Under that same logic, the Unabomber’s brother would also be executed by Drumpf. Knowing that he would face execution, the brother wouldn’t be likely to help catch him and we’d still have the Unabomber killing people today. Great policy. This all by itself should be disqualifying.
Drumpf stating he doesn’t know what White Supremacist is should be disqualifying. That tells me he is completely unaware of American history, racial sensitivity, Civil Rights movement, and somehow graduated from an Ivy League school and never managed to take a history class. That’s disturbing. Not knowing David Duke is one thing, not knowing who the KKK is would be another. Either he is lying or he is really dumb and uninformed. Either way, that’s horrifying.
He wants to weaken the 1st Amendment so he can sue people and make money. That should be disqualifying and it’s an insult to every single American and the Founding Fathers. Also, it plays right into line with his comments about Putin and killing journalists. Drumpf doesn’t think anyone should question him. He should do whatever he wants, say whatever he wants and no one should question him. If they do, he wants to shut you up, take your money, and kill you. That’s very Hiter-Putinesque.
Ban Muslims from this country. That’s kind of like the hilarious no gun signs at the bank. Do you think there has ever been a bank robber who saw the no gun sign and decided not to rob the bank? They keep non-bank robbers from bringing guns into the bank. I will never understand that logic because bank robbers are already breaking the law they clearly do not care about the sign. Similarly, if the idea is to keep terrorists out by banning their immigration do you really think they won’t go to Mexico or Canada and sneak in the border? For those who bring up the wall, I will remind you to Google search “cartel tunnel” and to eat some paint chips.
You do not stop people from committing crimes and criminal activity that way. You must address it at the root of the problem. It’s a narrative problem, not a problem of physical barriers. Criminals will find a way around every barrier you create. Maybe, we do something really crazy and try to find a tangible solution to the root cause.
Finally, we have a Fearmonger-in-chief. We have serious problems for a serious country that whole world relies on. Donald Drumpf has no problem telling you who to blame and what to be mad about but notice his complete lack of solutions. Saying you’re great and you’ll negotiate better isn’t a solution. That’s not a plan. We need real candidates with real plans and a logic and reasonable path to accomplish it. We need candidates who understand what’s at stake. We need candidates who want to unite the people of this country, who want to create root cause solutions to major problems.
I am not too concerned because 15% of the racist bigots in this country will never defeat the logic, commonsense, and pride the rest of us have. This is the greatest nation the world has never seen. We don’t need to make it White again. We need to make it united again. We need to work together to solve real problems. If you want to support conman Drumpf, that’s up to you but as you do just realize you’re putting a neon light above your head with an arrow down saying ‘racist, sexist, bigot right here’ and I hope employers start taking note of who you are. That’s not what your company represents and it’s damn sure not what our nation represents.
