Today marks the cold-wintry beginning of University of Denver Professor Andrew Matranga’s Cannabis Journalism course. In Matranga’s second go-around of teaching the monumental course, the class is bigger, more knowing, and more diverse. With six female students, Matranga is pleased to teach a more diversified class than the first time the journalism course was held.

GATEWAY The World’s First Marijuana Incubator

2016 marks the first year in which Oakland, California’s Gateway Cannabis Business Incubator will host its first cohort of ten companies. Each company receives $30,000 in return for 6%, 1% of which is allocated toward the mentors. Applications are being now being accepted without a set deadline; cohort 1 beings March 1, 2016.

Jake Browne came to class today and talked about the experiences he had that led to becoming the Denver Post’s pot critic. Jake states, “I smoke less pot now than I ever have.” As Jake keeps his tolerance low, he is better able to mimic the experience that someone who doesn’t smoke heavily would have.

// My final project focus could cover The Clear and collecting information that is currently available and synthesizing it with interviews that will create a compelling report on the new craze. The craze seems to be one of many recent updates in technology and surely not the last. Other recent crazes include Rosin, Live Resin, and HolyWater. Additionally, I would talk about the recent popularity of events similar to that of the Cannabis Cup in which these crazes often originate. //
