America & Freedom — Why We Are NOT Socialist

Good Day everyone. I wrote this from a personal perspective. I am a Green Party Candidate who believes in taking care of the poor, the needy, the wayfarer, orphan and the distressed. I am a strong supporter of true freedom, of liberty, and of pursuing your own happiness. I am a proponent of protecting and defending all of these rights, and for volunteerism over government mandated support, of doing the right thing for conviction over abundant taxation. I am 100% in favor of sustainability and resiliency in every way imaginable. I believe that human success depends on moral decency, environmental connection, and social unity in community.
I am a Green Party Candidate, but I am not a socialist, nor will I ever be. I am a free thinking man capable of holding myself responsible for my actions and I would hope that anyone that ever supports me does so willingly without a government mandating support.
I wrote this today to vent, as many expect me to fit into their political and social paradigm, their box of “ism”. I cannot bend to the wills of others. I am free and I do not ever want to be a slave. My ancestors died in slavery to ensure and allow me to understand the value of freedom, and no political ideology will ever change the heart in this living body.
If you can accept that, please continue to read. This is me, reckless as it may be, in full honesty. I challenge myself to improve upon this knowledge and anyone else to as well. America was designed to be a land of opportunity, of freedom and liberty. America has a history of violating these principles, but generally this young nation has stuck to them. Time will tell, and we shall see, just how much and how close we stay true to the principles soon to be mentioned. My words following this paragraph is not purposed to be an insult to socialist, but a expression of the differences between their ideology and the american logic of non-socialist principles. It is true, however, that there are socialist components in our governing community. This is due to our need to take care of one another, but includes our mistrust of each other to do good for our fellow man without governmental force. For this, we have not yet progressed to the truest ideals of freedom, but we shall prevail over our mistrust as time goes on, or as the global community transitions. Perhaps the American experiment is a test bed for the next movement in the world, one where Freedom truly prevails alongside justice and good will. But we shall see.
Personally, I think that people outside of the USA don’t understand the basic values and principles of Americans or why Americans do not want socialism in a greater sense, totally. You cannot take another cultures sensibilities and apply it to another people, and try to make people feel guilty. America was not formed with socialism in mind, nor will it last if it shifts to that paradigm. America was built on principle extracted out of school, seldom taught to the pubic, because it would produce revolutionary, powerful willed, and responsible people.
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness. These are the values and ideals of 1) Morality, 2) American Sensibilities, 3) Freedom.
All of these assume that 1) you are responsible for you life 2) you are responsible to protect your life and freedom as well as those that are not capable to do it, 3) you have the ability to do as you please and keep the fruits of your labor as long as you don’t harm another, and 4) you own yourself and all of your actions, which no man can violate.
These things are the basic building blocks of individuals who are capable of working together for the best outcomes, but where people DO NOT HAVE TO do what everyone else says or desires, which would be slavery at the hands of rulers, majorities, or oligarchs.
Socialism at its core assumes that there is a group of people capable of forcing others to do as the group pleases. It assumes that an individual must give up their own desires for the “greater good” though it may kill them, steal their freedom, and that it may cause them to be slaves to the greater majority or to preconceived established norms that may not be suitable for all.
This is not an argument for capitalism, or facism, or communism, or any other “ism” as all of these are mutually exclusive.
Socialism means that you give up your right to enjoy the fruits of your labor and efforts in order to provide to others by force by an enforcer. This is a violation of American’s basic ideals. It doesn’t matter what other people in the world want. If they want socialism, then they will end up going elsewhere. Part of the problems that we have in America is that the everyday person does not understand the “Philosophy of Liberty” nor the “Non-Aggression Principle” nor the Value of Freedom. We have problems because instead of taking responsibility for helping our neighbor, we assign that role to a government who itself cannot do anything efficiently or effectively. Instead of being volunteers, caretakers, and stewards of good faith, we have given up our desire to grow closer to each other, and we have given up our heart.
Socialism is a violation of freedom and will cause a civil war in the United States if anyone EVER tries to shift it.
I know it must be difficult for you to come here and try to understand. That is because you associate with others who do not have the ability to understand this, nor have they been educated in this. That is because this is not something that is taught in school, but it has to be researched and accepted personally, just like faith in God. As for me, my faith in the Most High Creator is combined perfectly aligned to my acceptance of Freedom, and liberty, and to my acceptance of the responsibility for my life. I will never be a socialist, because that would place the burden of responsibility of living my life onto society at large. Since I personally will never give up my freedom, I will never give into the false notion that others control my life and decisions.
For a more detailed explanation, I can and will if you need, give you resources to study. I guarantee that you have not been exposed to more than 1% of the root fundamental principles that guided the establishment of the USA. And for the record, even the revolutions in Europe and the constitution of nearly every nation that formed after 1800 has characteristics of these principles, though they frequently violated without knowing, or while knowing very well.
Socialism is when a government can take away from a person what they have earned in order to provide a basic standard of living determined by that government, and steals away what a person has worked for in order to provide for others that have not. It is aggression, period, with a pretty name. However, our country was not designed to be as it is now either. It was never suppose to have taxes, or rulers, or corruption. It was based on the idea of volunteering to help your neighbors if they needed help, not making a government stronger in order to steal from others to do that. It originally was based on the idea of donations, on willing support for the poor, while now we have taxes which do not adequately help ANYONE.
Anyone who is socialist agrees that the government should be a tool of control. Anyone who does this worships the concept of “government” and negates the basic rules of individual liberty, freedom, responsibility, and personal action.
Peace and Blessings. I hope not to sound harsh, but I grow tired of ignorant understanding of things and people who do not take the time to study deeply the roots of things before speaking. Socialism may work in some places, but it is not universal, and it is not designed for all people. America is a nation of many peoples, all who disagree on virtues and values. For socialism to work people in the country have to agree totally from a cultural basis of history, what is right for them in their community. America is the grouping of many communities with different ideals, cultures, traditions, beliefs, and actions. Socialism is not meant for the land of free and individually minded responsible souls.
Peace and Blessings be to you and your family. May our Creator — whatever you call it/him/her — have mercy on us and forgive us of our transgressions against the creation.
