Conservancy’s Jonee Miller makes 40 Under 40 list

Please help us congratulate our very own Jonee’ Miller as she has been named to the Gulfshore Business 40 under 40 list, which recognizes young professionals and community leaders in Southwest Florida for their contributions to local businesses and the community.

As the manager of the von Arx Wildlife Hospital at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, Miller cares for the approximately 3,800 native birds, mammals and reptiles admitted to the hospital each year. She is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s daily operations, in addition to daily husbandry and advanced patient care, and the training of interns and volunteers.

A native Floridian, Miller graduated from the University of Tampa in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. Prior to joining the Conservancy, she traveled across the U.S., monitoring sea turtles, collecting benthic freshwater samples and leading kayak tours in South Carolina, tracking and trapping radio-tagged prairie grouse through Oklahoma, and monitoring the nesting of swallow-tailed kites in Georgia.

Miller joined the Conservancy as an intern before taking on her full-time role in 2004. She is also active in the community, serving as a judge for Odyssey of the Mind competitions at the regional and state levels, and has also been involved as a vocalist with local music groups.

“Joneé is a shining star at the Conservancy, and we are so proud of her receiving this impressive recognition,” said Joanna Fitzgerald, director of the Conservancy’s von Arx Wildlife Hospital. “Her passion for the Conservancy’s mission is demonstrated daily through her commitment to the von Arx Wildlife Hospital and the many animals in its care. This honor from Gulfshore Business speaks volumes towards the impact of her hard work within her profession and community.”
