Breitbart Headlines Following “Trump Surge” Announcement

This evening, Trump announced a surge in America’s military presence in Afghanistan. It will add approximately 4,000 additional troops bringing total levels to 13,000.

In the process, he also expanded upon the strategic importance of the South Asian region as a whole. The President also mentioned getting tougher with Pakistan and partnering with India to bring about the desired outcome for the region.

While this was not entirely unexpected, the fact that former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, is fresh out of the West Wing, did add an air of dramatic intensity to the announcement. How would Bannon react to his former boss changing course on an issue previously seen as central to the tenets of his core base of supporters?

Immediately following Trump’s announcement, Breitbart.com posted a story with a headline that included the words “FLIP-FLOP” and “TRUMP REVERSES COURSE.”

The flip-flop on Afghanistan is likely to be the first of many such reversals to come. Of all of the policy initiatives that Bannon had listed on his West Wing office wipe-board, it will be interesting to see how many not only do not get enacted, but how many actually get reversed?

It looks like war it is — not just in a continuing sense in Afghanistan, but also between Bannon/Breitbart and the Trump administration.
