Bachelor Parties and Training = HORRIBLE Combo
As my title lets on, my weekend training went about as well as my 4th of July training. Though I got a strong 5+ miles in on Wednesday with Nike+ Run Club in Central Park, I knew I should, but would likely not, get a bunch of miles in over the weekend.
Thursday I flew down to Austin for the beginning of the bachelor party. I got a short workout in at the gym that evening and then a 4+ mile run in Friday morning. To note, AUSTIN IS HOT AND HUMID!!!!! LORDT, I started sweating at mile .05. Though the run along both sides of Lady Bird was pretty, I looked like I had gone swimming in the river, not running along it. I was DRENCHED!
By this point, the rest of the bachelor party attendees were arriving which led to immediate consumption of barbecued meats and alcohol. The closest thing I got to cardio the rest of the week was trying to paddle my tube towards the beer cooler during our group tubing experience (Which was a BLAST).
I am promising myself and you all this week will be better. I have a group run with Fred’s Team this evening, another group run with Nike+ Run Club tomorrow night, a class at MHRC on Thursday, and a long run on Saturday. I’m actually really nervous about my Saturday long run. It will be the first 10+ run of my training. It will be CRAZY hot, because it is New York City in the summer and I just don’t want to die and ruin my weekend/life.
Wish me luck!
