Day 53 — Fact Checking

You should never leave your API keys available for anyone to see. I was going to hide my API keys using straight UNIX commands but I am a beginner. So I defaulted to using the figaro gem to do the hard part.

On this site, railsapps.github.io, it told me to type the following command:

$ rails generate figaro:install

It kept giving me this error message:

Could not find generator ‘figaro:install’. Maybe you meant ‘simple_form:install’ or ‘migration’ or ‘controller’
Run `rails generate — help` for more options

I went to the figaro gem documentation page and found this command:

$ figaro install

It worked! I still ended up having something else mess up with my app.
