Day 54 of an unemployed graduate

AKA—farm girl with a masters degree

Hello again! I’m still unemployed but I’ve been busy the last two weeks! I need to be to keep my sanity.

As per usual, in the mornings I feed my horses in my pj’s—but you don’t need to see that, again.

But for the last two weeks I’ve been spending the majority of my mornings in another barn. Millside Stables is where I took lessons, and competed as a kid and teenager. I’ve had many great rides, friends, ribbons, and injuries there. Point is I’ve been training my five-year-old belgian-standardbred cross Dibley at this barn. A young horse needs consistent riding to gain experience and become more balanced. We’ve got our walk and trot down pact, and she occasionally goes on the bit! For those who don’t know equine hunter jargon, “going on the bit”, is where you get the horse to bend and collect itself under you—makes for a nicer, more controlled ride. We’re having our first lesson this Friday, so I’ll let you know who gets winded first.

Isn’t she pretty? Nice and shiny from having a bath.

She loves baths.

And of course, Churchill also requires playtime attention.

He will carry his soccer ball around all day.

But Chester the corgi on the other hand, is more of a working dog. Here he is ploughing the fields with my mother.

And for all animal rights activists, DO NOT panic this tractor DOES have air conditioning.

Looks fun you say? It’s not always this glamorous.

BECAUSE PLANTS DON’T GROW UNLESS YOU TAKE THE ROCKS OUT!

My thoughts while picking stones…

Save me Jebus! Find me a job with air conditioning!

In between all these daily activities that are full of exercise, of course I’m still making time to send away those applications.

What’s in store for my next post? Who knows! Maybe Dibley and I will be able to canter more than four rounds. Maybe I will have an outing with friends. Or maybe, just maybe I’ll be employed!

I hope.
