1. The Big Story: Paul Ryan says he won’t defend Donald Trump anymore. Here Are the Republicans Disavowing the GOP Nominee.

Following the release of a 2005 tape in which Donald Trump made “extremely lewd” comments about women, several Republicans have rescinded their endorsements of him. House Speaker Paul Ryan told members on Monday that he would no longer defend Trump and that they should do what they need to do to keep their seats in Congress. So far, more than 40 Republicans have said they can no longer support Trump. Here they are.

2. “Clinton Wall Street Speeches Leaked. Here’s What You Need to Know

Wikileaks released more than 2,000 emails from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s account over the weekend, including the transcripts of some her paid speeches to Wall Street groups, which Clinton has refused to release. Excerpts include Clinton talking about the need to have “both a public and a private position” on controversial issues, her dream of free trade and other quotes that could cause problems for her campaign.

3. “Trump: Warren Buffett avoids taxes like me. Buffett: Nope, and here’s my taxes to prove it.

In response to news reports that he didn’t pay taxes for as many as 18 years, Donald Trump claimed in Sunday night’s debate that Warren Buffett and other Hillary Clinton supporters used the same technique. But Buffett responded on Monday with a statement saying that “he has paid taxes every year since 1944, when he was 13 and paid $7 to fund World War II.” Buffett also noted “that he took only $3.5 million in charitable deductions — even though he donated more than $2.8 billion.” And Buffett said that he, too, is being audited but decided to release information from his tax returns anyway. (Trump has said he won’t release his returns until his audit is finished).

5. “Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Two California Police Officers Arrested After 12-Hour Standoff

“John Felix, 26, was arrested early Sunday morning following the murder of two police officers in Palm Springs, California. Felix, who was apprehended after a long standoff with a SWAT team, was in possession of concealable soft body armor and high-capacity magazines when he was finally arrested.” His father told a neighbor “that his son was ‘crazy,’ he ‘has a gun,’ and he was ‘ready to shoot all the police.’”
