Convergence of VoIP and UC: key to VoIP growth.
Over the past few weeks, we have discussed the expected growth of the Global Unified Communications market and the rise of the BYOD market over the next few years.
A new study published by Technavio called “Global Mobile VoIP Market 2016–2020,” examines and identifies various industry trends that will play a key role in the growth of the VoIP market, expected to reach a compound annual growth rate of over 28% until 2020.
One of the main factors driving this growth is the convergence of Unified Communications (UC) and VoIP applications. “Converged applications such as UCs help companies increase revenues and decrease costs. These also enhance productivity and improve customer service. UC adds real-time call control, collaboration, media handling, and integration of voice and data applications. IP-enabled UC systems provide opportunities to integrate instant messaging (IM), presence awareness, and features such as click-to-call, click-to-conference, web and voice conferencing, web or multimedia chat, and document collaboration through a common user interface,” said Rakesh Panda, one of Technavio’s lead analysts.
“Convergence of fixed and mobile networks act as a positive driver for VoIP. By migrating voice services to IP on fixed and mobile networks, VoIP players are looking to introduce high-value services that combine fixed and mobile voice, data services, as well as content. These services are eventually anticipated to transcend all network and devices,” added Rakesh.
One of the main benefits of deploying VoIP at an enterprise level is the improvements in business efficiency as it betters communication and enables more effective decision-making. VoIP allows enterprises to conduct business in different geographical locations in a more streamlined and potentially more cost-effective way.
