Well I’m pretty sure your brief article is not making a “smart” person smarter. Panic is never wise. I heralded the coming age of global warming catastrophe with equal vigor back in the 1990s …..you know before Al Gore made it fashionable. Nobody responded then except to say I was nutty. First of all ACCEPT THIS: You’re going to die really soon regardless of global warming. That is compared to the total lifespan of this thriving living creature we are only one organic component off. One day is one inhalation for Planet Earth. One night, when the greenery gives back our oxygen, is one exhalation. Earth will live for at least a few billion years more; we will not. A lot of people may very well die, globally, within the next 200 years. We are just another living species that is no better than the amoeba, chimps, crocs, daisys, tulips, starfish, centipedes, lions, tigers….etc etc etc. Just another variation of the living tissue that is The Earth.
Except for one thing. We are The Conscience of this organism. Is it fair that we thteaten the abundance of lives that compose Organism Earth ? Of course not. Forget the library at Alexandria. How about my dog, my cat, my parakeet ? How about my kids and their future kids. I can fit a million libraries the size of Alexandria’s in a room as big as my bathroom. Stop panicking and start compiling….then start living your few remaining days in a calm and thoughtful manner that shows everyone how much you care about ALL LIFE.
Peace
