‘Breaking News’ is broken. Let’s fix it.

I remember when I was younger and “breaking news” actually meant something. You would just be sitting there with the tv on in the background when all of a sudden the sound would drop out and a graphic filled the screen while a very serious voice would say “This is an ABC news special report.” You knew that something major and probably not good was going on, and that they weren’t messing around.
