Solar Flare
By: Matthew Dragovich
If you were a moon and I was a star.
Light years would seem days apart.
Better yet,
Each step that we take,
Seconds are lifted from this clock heavy weight.
Sensibility, despondency and disturbance.
Within this solar flare.
Where the Milky Way leaks.
I ride this comet in hopes that I will find.
A sonnet to savor with an open mind.
Hailey will spin,
The dipper will dash.
Anything to make this moment last.
Space age music that soothes the soul.
Even within the depths of a black hole.
I drift away with thoughts so light.
A shooting star would compare to a feather in weight and in flight.
A fair in the skies beyond the stars.
Next stop Venus, Mercury and Mars.
I said it once and I’ll say it again.
If you were a moon and I was a star,
Light years would seem days apart.
