I agree with you. My (adult) daughter asked me my opinion on bikinis on the beach. She struggles to find a one-piece that fits top and bottom, and the heat in these areas is a bit extreme. Since becoming a mother herself, she is feeling the pressure to avoid the bikinis. I told her, “Since you ask…..” and I referenced the millstone-around-the-neck passage that seems to have been missed here. Not to mention the whole concept of sacrifical love that seems to have been missed here. I found the overall tone of the article to be less than helpful.

Truly, it doesn’t have to be an “either/or.” It can (and I think is) a “both/and.” We take reasonable care that we love our brothers enough to not put an obvious stumbling block before their eyes (believe me, good Christian men that I know personally do struggle against lust as it is and they voice appreciation for their sisters who are mindful of that) AND we expect men to fight the good fight themselves. It has to be a two-way street.
