8 Reasons to Visit Grand Canyon During Winter

If you have not yet witnessed the splendor that exists in northern Arizona at one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World, Grand Canyon, you should put it on your list of to-do’s. Then, when you go about planning your excursion to paradise, consider making the trip during the winter months. Here’s why:

1) The Temperature is Not Oppressive

Visiting Grand Canyon in the summer months can make your vacation a little less than comfortable. If you are anything like me, you know that when it is cold out you can just wear a few extra layers to stay comfortable. However, when it’s hot, as is most often the case during peak tourist season at Grand Canyon, you can only shed so many layers before you begin to get awkward looks.

2) Easier to Obtain Permits

If you plan to go camping down in Grand Canyon, which I highly recommend, permits are incredibly easy to obtain during the winter months. In fact, I spent the night down at Horseshoe Mesa last weekend after walking into the Backcountry Office a week before my trip to obtain the required permit. I probably could…
