I’m really enjoying this exchange of letters between you and Jessica, thank you both so much for writing them. I live in Oakland, and I have a question for you! What would be the most effective way to campaign the city of Oakland, to fund more empathy and communication training for cops?

I work for a book publishing company, Berrett-Koehler Publishers, that has published bestsellers on peaceful conflict resolution. The authors of our book The Anatomy of Peace have trained the Kansas City Police Department in empathy, reducing incidents of police violence by an amazing amount! But Oakland is strapped for cash — how can I convince city government that hiring someone like our authors would be the best use of funds?
