Interior decor inspirations from celeb cribs

Summer 2016 in NYC has been hot and steamy so far, and no less hot are the celebrity apartment headlines populating Google search this steamy August morning. Skinnygirl’s Bethenny Frankel is returning to her Tribeca apartment, Today Show’s Tamron Hall opened up her downtown two-bedroom for a candid moment with the New York Times. The hyperlinks are irresistible. Regardless of what we’re doing (or not doing) at work, whether we’re checking out at a register or strolling down the Fifth Avenue, celebrity apartment style commands our attention every time. That goes for the world of apartments also, as we at CribRater are fascinated by celebrity interior decor.

Interior Decor

Sure, historically Americans gravitate toward celebrity headlines, paparazzi pics, and controversial exposés, but in particular, why are we so fascinated by celebrities’ entryways, kitchens, and bathrooms? Their garden patios and walk-in closets? At the very least, knowing celebrities access the finest furnishings and the most sophisticated and superior designers in the world stands as a superb reason to stop and stare at the interior décor of NYC’s celeb trend-setters.

Decor Inspirations

Media giants are well aware of our chronic attraction to celebrity living, and so, feed us a gluttonous diet of all that we crave. Hearst Magazine dedicates an entire section of their Elle Décor to Celebrity Style, where we gorge on ideas of interior grandeur spurred by numerous photos of Gwyneth Paltrow’s bedroom, Molly Ringwold’s house (which is up for sale, by the way), Drew Barrymore’s décor (and other) addictions, and Johnny Depp’s interesting art collection. Refinery29.com also recently posted an article with vivid pics and bargain tips on how to copy rooms of 13 different celebrities. New York Times’s recent article describes Tamron Hall’s abode in warm, romantic tones with vivid details of her chic decor and last-century period pieces — the “blond wood kitchen,” a “black and white Minotti ottoman,” a taxidermy peacock, the “well-stocked 1950s brass-and-glass bar cart,” the “round 1970s marble-topped table.”

The Celebrity Interior Decor

Viewing celebrities in their habitat, we instantly relate with them on a most basic human level — coming home, out of the rat race, throwing shoes to the side of the door, walking to the kitchen for a glass of water or wine, collapsing in bed after a long day (or night) . . . just like we do! We mentally transport ourselves into their apartment seated in their furnishings, walking on their floors, turning on their lamps, and resting in their chairs. Therein resides our own addiction and our inspiration.

The interior decor of celebrities arouse us to seek and mirror their luxe décor, and, as any savvy New York renter knows, a sure way to decorate celeb style with renters’ cents is to shop places like zarahome.com, wisteria.com, etsy.com, and westelm and housing works (in NYC). Of course, a few celebrities like to pin their style @Pinterest, where you can also follow these sites and more. A few of my favs are Harpers Bazaar Interior Design, domino (magazine), and Pottery Barn
