AMD Announces Radeon RX 6600 XT for 1080p gaming

Gamers and hardware enthusiasts are already familiar with AMD’s lineup of Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards, viz, RX 6900 XT, RX 6800 XT, RX 6800, and RX 6700 XT. These cards are primarily targeted towards gaming at 4K and 1440p resolution. However, AMD recently unveiled their brand new addition to the Radeon RX 6000 series, the RX 6600 XT, which is targeted towards 1080p gaming.

Specification

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Specifications

Radeon RX 6600 XT comes with 8 GB of GDDR6 graphics memory with a 128-bit interface, 32 MB of cache, memory speed of 16 Gbps, and bandwidth upto 256 GB/s. It offers a game frequency of 2359 MHz and a boost frequency of 2589 MHz. RX 6600 XT features 2048 stream processors with 32 compute units and ray accelerators. The GPU needs 160 W of power and a power supply of 500 W is recommended by AMD, which will be connected to the GPU via it’s 8 pin power connector.

Similar to all the other GPUs in the RX 6000 series, RX 6600 XT features AMD’s RDNA 2 architecture for enabling next generation gaming. It also features AMD Smart Access Memory which enables a performance boost upto 15% as compared to Nvidia RTX 3060’s Resizable BAR. Radeon RX 6600 XT supports ray tracing and it’s FidelityFX Super Resolution offers much higher frames per second. Similar to the other cards in the RX 6000 series, RX 6600 XT features Radeon Boost which delivers upto 48% higher frame rates by making use of dynamic resolution.

Performance

According to AMD, nearly two-third of the monitors sold in the year 2020 were of 1080p resolution. Therefore, Radeon RX 6600 XT was designed primarily for maximum performance for 1080p gaming.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT AAA games fps

As per AMD’s claims, RX 6600 XT offers an average of 120 FPS in all AAA titles. Based on their data, the card offers 144 fps in Death Stranding, 176 fps in Resident Evil Village, 164 fps in Battlefield V, and 92 fps in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at maximum settings in 1080p with Smart Access Memory enabled.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Esports games fps

As for esports titles, RX 6600 XT offers 425 fps in Counter Strike: Global Offensive, 289 fps in DOTA 2, 553 fps in Valorant, 441 fps in Rainbow Six Siege, and 186 fps in Apex Legends.

AMD claims that RX 6600 XT can offer upto 2.5X better performance than Nvidia GTX 1060 and upto 15% better performance than Nvidia RTX 3060 in AAA titles.

Pricing and Availability

AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT will be priced at 379 USD and will be made available from August 11, 2021. Of course this goes without saying that many regions of the world will not likely be able to purchase it on that exact date since it generally takes a few weeks or even months for all hardware components to be made available globally. Moreover, availability and pricing may be further affected owing to the global shortage of GPUs.
